Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Mohammad Eslami announced that development of nuclear reactors and extensive use of renewable energies are on the agenda of the government.“Development of nuclear reactors is an important necessity, which is a priority in the national strategies, and special attention is paid to it in national development plans,” Eslami said during his visit to the Darkhovein nuclear site in the Southwestern city of Shadegan in Khuzestan province.He said that in the world, too, the general approach is using renewable clean energies, and this important task is one of the priorities of the 13th government, as well. “Today the nuclear economy has great added value and zero pollution, and is considered the cleanest way to produce electricity around the globe, which is why we need to take long strides ahead in nuclear sciences and technology,” Eslami said.He added that energy is an inseparable part of the human beings’ lives in the modern and industrial societies, which affects the entire dimensions of the peoples’ lives. Eslami said that the Darkhovein nuclear site is one of the most important sites in Iran, for whose construction deep studies have been done and can provide the needed electricity in Iran’s Khuzestan province which is faced with electricity shortage now.In relevant remarks in October 2020, Director General of Iranian Renewable Energy Organization Ali Shabnavard said that Iran will put 28 renewable energy power plants on stream. “At the moment, nearly 54 companies are constructing renewable energy power plants such as solar and wind energy and hydroelectric power plants with a total capacity of 229.39 MW,” Shabnavard said.He went on to say that based on the feedback achieved from relevant experts about construction of renewable energy power plants with Iran's Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization with regards to executive works of 54 power plants, 28 renewable power plants are estimated to enter working stage. - Fars
